CFO Report on the situation in the maquila industry in Northern Mexico

A new report by MSN's long-time partner in Mexico, the Border Committee of Women Workers (Comité Fronterizo de Obreras, CFO) describes the experiences of workers in the maquila factories of the Northern States in Mexico over the first month of the COVID-19 crisis.

The report presents a bleak picture for workers, who are either suspended, with a fraction of their wages or forced to continue working in unsafe conditions, with a high risk of becoming infected by the virus. CFO also describes how isolation at home has resulted in increased domestic violence, and how the closing of the border with the United States has resulted in the lack of access to affordable food.
